When Florence Pugh couldn’t go to the movies
An aspiring chef and a recent divorcee find their lives changed forever when a chance meeting brings them together in a deeply moving love story that spans a decade… For the premiere, due to other filming commitments, Andrew Garfield brought a life-size cutout of her to fill her absence. During the scene in the living room With candles and fire, Almut closes Tobias’s notebook, but in the next shot it is opened..

He is newly divorced, she just got out of a lesbian relationship
Tobias (Andrew Garfield) is hit by a car driven by Almut (Florence Pugh). He stays in the hospital until he wakes up, and since he’s already been discharged – despite a broken arm and a neck brace – (not enough beds – political comments there!), she takes him out to dinner. Despite this unpromising start, mutual attraction occurs and the pair begin a long-term relationship.
The two leaders make an intriguing pair
Pugh in particular is easily accepted as the fiery Almut. Garfield plays nice guy Tobias, a little too dumb to be entirely believable, but manages to stay on the right side of annoying (and if the bare, well-shaped bum in the bathroom scene is his and not a body double’s, he’s got a really nice bum – just sayin’ …) None of the other actors get enough screen time to make an impact, although I was surprised to see Douglas Hodge play Tobias’ father – before in his twenties or thirties he would probably be playing the male lead himself. This is a good example of a chick flick: romantic, cheesy and leaves no dry eyes in the house.
I’m not sure I’d watch it again, but I’m glad I saw it at least once
