Helen begins a passionate affair with a man who has no idea what her secret identity is. Helen’s employer asks Sam to protect her when her lover falls victim to London’s dangerous underworld. Bingo, the owner of the guitar shop where Sam buys the gun, is played by Rat Scabies, a member of the band The Damned.
It starts off really well
Fairytale of New York Written by Jem Finer, Shane MacGowan Starring The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl. This is one of those quintessential entertainment pieces where the acting is beyond reproach and the production values are virtually flawless. You think you’re being charmed and seduced by a complex spy thriller.
But John Le Carre is not like that
Instead, you quickly discover that it’s neither serious nor funny. As is often the case these days, the problem is the paucity of stories. It has quirky characters, as well as characters with all the charm and conversational magic you’d expect from a psychopath.
Alas, a disappointment, it could have been really good
They could be related to Eve from Eve’s Obsession, but they’re poor cousins and don’t fit the DNA psychopath heredity scale. It’s a cartoon caricature of a spy thriller, with a plot built on a thin plot and repetitive action scenes that fill in the gaps. “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
